Detective Allan Reddins was shot and killed while responding an armed man leaving a bank around 0930 hours.
He and other officers saw the man two blocks away and instructed him to show his hands. The man produced a handgun and shot Detective Reddins in his side. Other officers returned fire and wounded the subject before taking him into custody.
Detective Reddins was transported to the Medical Center where he passed to his wounds shortly after.
Detective Reddins served with the Oak Park Police Department for five years.
